probably German or Swiss circa 1920, with heavy octagonal 'barrel', the front 7 3/4in. housing the Zimmer mechanism, the mechanism loaded via an external lever mounted back from the muzzle, protected fore-sight, no provision for rear-sight, micro-adjustable pan-head peep-sight mounted to the top-tang, pale walnut half-stock with Tyrolean cheek-piece and heavy Swiss-style heel-plate, decorative chequered panel to the right side of butt, moulded schnabel fore-end tip, complex finger-grooved trigger guard bow acting as the cocking lever, double set triggers and swivels for sling
